A lion at each side of the gates; one is male, the other female.
The male has a ball under the left foot, the female, a lion cub. This one is female.

The roof support beams were painted brightly. This one has been repainted for the 2008 Olympics;
many of the buildings were under refurbishment or had just been finished.
